Take some NEW pics of your favorite guitar...

Taken last night. Solid Cedar top, Wild Cherry back and sides. Silver Leaf Maple neck. It's been around, and it's mine all mine. Genuine Nitrocellulose finish (look by the pickguard...I'm a heavy strummer), and rings true like a bell.

It was the Taylor, but it got sold, it's now coming back, but I don't think it'll take the place of the Seagull.

Ha ha it looks pretty sweet, I've always loved those singlecut guitars, but I simply don't feel confortable playing them. What pickup is in the bridge? Have you kept the neck pickup?

It's an invader in the bridge, I've been thinking I might try changing it out but it doesn't sound too bad really. The neck is the stock one, I like that one quite a bit. What do you have in yours?

I just changed mine a week ago for a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. I think the JB is juste what I needed, I love the clean (w/e people say the clean of it isn't good) of it and the distortion sounds heavy. I like the clean of the Jazz, but I don't really like the distortion. I think it's a bit to bright, dunno if I will change it someday, not sure.

The stock neck pickup is quite awesome. Tell me about the invader.

Wow that's a nice guitar you got there! I like the retro look of the lipsticks.

Re: Take some NEW pics of your favorite guitar...

Tell me about the invader.

The invader is pretty good in this guitar. It is dark, as it is in any guitar, but for me, it still has a nice sizzle to it. I like to crank the treble in my amp quite a bit and the invader takes off the painful edge but keeps it crunchy. It can be a little muddy though tuned down below D, but it can usually be dial out with the amp's eq. Overall pretty darn good, I just wish it was a little sweeter sounding for leads.

Yeah, Luke likes to make us all look bad :bling:

Nah, I reserve that right for Christian and Aleclee! They've got the coolest guitars in my book!

During rough economic times I'm going to HAVE to agree with Ed Roman...BUY GUITARS....because even if you can't sell them at least you can play them! :D

Bean you need to come up to AR sometime man.

The wife and I are planning a trip to Memphis around October. She wants to and spend two weeks there. If I have my way we'll drive and spend a week there, and a week in various other places that I'd love to visit again. If I can talk her into it, we'll def. meet up.

On the other hand, you need to come to Texas.

I was in Abilene at Thanksgiving, and will probably saunter down that way again this year.

BTW, any good shops down there you'd trust for a refret on that 335? I've got a place here but haven't reviewed their work yet.

In Abilene, or North Texas in general?

I love that blue Custom 24, it simply rocks with those white pickups.

Thanks man! I actually picked it up in Santa Barbara at the last Seymour Duncan User Group Day. Evan got us a discount at a local store and I bought a guitar! lol

If you go to the link under the pic you can see some closeups. I've put a LOT of hours in on that guitar, so many in fact that I've worn part of the finish off of the lower saddles and there's a pick scratch haze under the high E string between the pups!

I try to take care of my guitars, but if you play they aren't going to stay pristine, ya know? So I'm just going to play the wheels off of it!

N. Texas in general.

Well, there's quite a few skilled people in the DFW area, but I'm not familiar with anyone out in Abilene, at least that I would trust to work on my stuff. I know of one guy who works out at Deatherage Music, but from what I've been told by customers who went to him, he doesn't know what he's doing, and will bark at you if you tell him otherwise. I'm speaking of what I was told, and mean no disrespect to him. For all I know he might have had an off day, and the customer just caught him at a bad time.

Yeah, I don't plan on being in Abilene any time soon, just the DFW metro.

Ah, well if you're in the DFW metro, shoot me a PM with what exactly you're looking to have done. When I first moved here, I went around and met all the guys who people talk about. Everyone admitted their strong point, and what they needed to work on. So, I can point you to the guy who does the best work for one thing, and the guy who does the best work for another.
