The H90 Harmonizer Thread

I absolutely love it. I already started putting in some presets to use with the band that sound spot on and were simple to program. The H90 is much more powerful and feature full than the H9. That doesn't take anything away from the H9 it is still a monster pedal. Seeing the H9s are going for ~$300 used, they are a more budget-friendly way to get a lot of the Eventide processing power. The cool thing Eventide is doing is all of the development and upgrades to the algorithms in the H90 are being added to the plugins and H9. For example, if they make changes to the Pitchfactor algorithms those changes are reflected in all of their products that have that algorithm. So the H9 is not dead or forgotten. There is simply a shiny new model on the showroom floor and it is a beast.

If budget is not a concern yes go for the H90, if it is you will not find more bang for your buck than the H9.

I was trying not to by too hyperbolic about the H90 until someone else got one to back me up.

But I'm pretty certain it's the greatest pedal ever made overall.

Ive been playing with putting my H9 in the loop AND put it on the MIDI daisy chain

I have never used three effects at the same time, two at the most. So I think I am going to use the H90 for my effects and the H9 for lead sculpting. With the H9, I am going to start building some boosts/overdrives in Crushstation, EQ and H910/H949 to detune and thicken leads. Cranking the level also gives the amp's preamp a nice kick. I have used the H9 to heavily saturate my Excelsior with just some EQ and a level boost.

MY BOSS BF2 and my Ibanez CS9 came off the board last week. Got through practice without the MXR Carbon Copy tonight. I think my board by next week with be overdrive/gain on the top row and H9>H90>WAH>EXP on the bottom row. I have a couple of more patches to program and I will be good.

Are the patches fairly easy to edit? Is it more like choosing self-contained algorithms? Is there a computer editor/librarian?

Yes, there is a computer editor or you can edit right on the box. You can make the patches any combination of algorithms you would like in parallel or series. The learning curve is fairly simple, I created a patch today in a few minutes for Hey Man Nice Shot which was TREM and REVERB.

So I ran into the first thing that requires some attention when using H90 -if you patch out the I/O to another pedal and back in some digital noise was added even though both units are on the same isolated transformer supply..... need to look into it -maybe it's the other pedal.

Another question...how is the spillover from one preset to another?

It is user-defined.

Spillover Time - this determines how long the bypass tails will be enabled when switching Programs. Configurable from 0 to 30 seconds.

With the H90 Harmonizer, two advanced algorithms can be combined into a Program to create novel, inspiring sounds. The H90’s dual algorithm design features true spillover between Programs, and series or parallel effect routing. Two mono inserts can be positioned anywhere in the signal chain allowing users to incorporate outboard effects in any configuration, or the inserts can be combined for one stereo insert. Instrument or line level operation, full gain controls and Dual Mode lets players optimize their signal flow to incorporate H90 into an existing rig, sit on the desktop next to your DAW, or make it the centerpiece of a setup.

Go to the Eventide forum the techs monitor it and respond very quickly.

I ordered an EHX Dual EXP it is on backorder. I am already thinking about how I will use it to control two Eventides. I am thinking I can increase the REVERB as I step forward on the WAH to take some of the harshness off and give a bit of depth. I might also add a bit of TREM or CHOURUS to simulate the tape warble getting slightly more dramatic on my TAPE DELAY setting when the tape speed is increased.

I programmed in what I think will be serviceable replacements for my old first gem Morley and my MXR Micro Flange for one of the tunes we are rehearsing tomorrow. I updated both a bit but I think I will still capture the vintage vibe.

I think I might splurge and buy one of these plus a sans amp for a full bass rig, seeing as I play on a silent stage

An H90 into a Sansamp is basically everything you could need.

In fact I used that exact set up 2 weeks ago in Ashville NC at a gig for an acoustic. However -I dont have the Acoustice fly rig with a built in compressor -so I had to burn an H90 channel for compressor (my fly rig is the regular one) -ideally Id use the acoustice sansamp flyrig version in the future to preserve both channels in H90

That is what I love about the H90. If I need something for a one-off or quickly I can "burn" a channel and call it up. I have been programming the H90 for my set and using the H9 for the one-off effects or quick effects. When not in use I have the H9 set on the "Fat H910" setting with a little bump on the level. I call it my panic button. If my lead sounds thin or is not cutting through the mix I step on it.
