Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Can a base with short feet be included in the spec?
Double Cream under cover? Honestly, why not given the unique chance to go this route?
4 Conductor?

No preference on scatter wound.
I would lean towards A5 but most of us can change it to whatever we want so it doesn't matter.

I guess a 9.5-10k full strength mag antiquity is what it sounds like we are after?

Short legs would be nice.

This up to y'all. I'm in regardless.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I'm in too!
If you could give me a quote on shipping prices that would be great Scott! I'd better check my paypal account if it's still working.

Jeff's specs seem cool:

10K, Wax potted, sightly degaussed A5, uneven winds or scatter winding, I prefer double cream under a nickel cover. Both 4 or 2 conductor is cool with me. A beefed up '59 with wooden spacers but short baseplate legs please!

So soundwise it would have great cleans and a good clear but creamy and complex gain tone!
It better have some good bottom end for palm mutes! This could be the ultimate pickup connecting Vintage and modern. Typical that it's a bridge model! ;)

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Nickel over zebra w/4 lead would be what I'd want, although if the idea is to stay with PAF specs, I'd be cool with metal braided cable as well.

Maybe Seymour can chime in with his recommendations on exact ohms rating and wind? Like Donzo mentioned, there's no point in sticking with 10K, if that's not necessarily where a beefy sounding PAF sits the best. I'm most interested in having something that's the fullest/tightest overwound PAF you can get, without it becoming compressed or muddy.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

If I was in it'd have to be 9-10k, and scatterwound.

...with glow in the dark bobbins :laugh2: -> Then I'd definately be in :D

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Does anyone actually know what a 10K pup sounds like?

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Scott maybe we could put together a check list of specs like bobbin color, long/short feet etc to try and dial in where the general specs are falling. I am pretty open on most points but I think a starting point of specs will help to lock in what we are looking for

Let me see if I have clips of my 10k SDeco 2.

My 9.2k VHII sounds awesome, but I have a control in my guitar that slightly boosts the mids and gain (which would make it sound like it was around 10k), and I actually prefer it boosted a tad - so it's probably close to that.

Nope, that's why I'm in on this one, it seems very interesting. ;)

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Lets eliminate the easy stuff... does anyone have an issue with...

wax potting?

4 cond. cable?

the nickel cover part?

short legs?

the 59 stuff... wood spacers, same wire?

scatterwind/mismatch thing?

Metal braid would be a deal breaker for me - I need 4 conductor.

I completely agree with this. I would rather leave the exact specs up to the experts. As long as it fits the criteria of my original post, I'm in.

Short feet would be def. appreciated though.

I'll respond to this to make sure I'm clear on everything.

Don't care.

4 cond. cable?

Must have

the nickel cover part?

Yes please. No cover black/black also good.

short legs?

Would be appreciated, not essential though.

the 59 stuff... wood spacers, same wire?

No opinion, will defer judgement to the experts.

scatterwind/mismatch thing?

See above.

Basically, all I'm after is something that has the PAF feel with a bit more juice: somewhere between the '59 and the Customs.

Hi guys--

What are short legs, and what is the difference between scatterwind and mismatch etc... I don't care about color, nickel cover etc because I'm going to put an antiquity cover on it. If it is 4 conductor, I can still use it like two, right? Just cap off the extra two wires? I am definitely in on this pickup for a Les Paul.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

This sounds real sweet :beerchug:....I'm interested, but I'm in the same position as Johtosotku (from the same country as well ;)...) I don't have Paypal and wouldn't be possible to use it either, since it doesn't "work" over here. So if we could figure out a way good way to solve the money problem and the color has to match in my Love Rock, I'm in. Preferably zebra with a nickel cover for me.

Maybe we could transfer cash to a trusted forumites (maybe Scott_F's :) ..) bank account and we'd take care of it that way? Just a suggestion :)

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

What kind of chance do I have getting one in tremspacing?

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I want one.....I would prefer the nickel cover, with 4 lead, the exact specs of the rest I would defer to the rest of you guys....but I am in.
