Does anyone actually know what a 10K pup sounds like?

I swapped an A5 mag into my 10k Distortion neck. It definitely mellowed it a bit. So much so, that I'll be putting the ceramic back in. Its not "bad", just soft sounding. Not a lot of highs or bass. Its useable as a jazz pup, but I think there's better.

Might be different through a "real" amp though.

1. Wire: #42 plain enamel (the default choice) but MJ is the final judge!

2. Resistance: 9.50-10.50K

3. Short Legs

4. 4c wires

5. the grade of the alnico magnet bar (well this is gonna be difficult, I am cool with any a2-a5 )

6. color (couldn't we get different colors? do they all have to be the same color? Even so its cool) - I'd want reverse zebra or double creme

7. Would like to have all them cool accurate PAF thingys like the wooden spacer, the paper tape whatever of them 59s! They are cool!

8. Would want a hot EVH or PG voiced bucker. But am ok with whatever is decided. This is a cool project anyways!

what is the diff between normal and short Legs?

My concern is simply, will it fit/work in a Gibson or gibson style instrument ?(i.e. a Les Paul or my Hamer)

It should work fine with Gibsons. Short legs are whats found on JB's, Custom's etc. They are a bit shorter than whats found on Seths, 59's etc.

How do we make determination on specs? Set up a pole for each? How do we limit only to those ponying up?

I would want either zebra, or double cream under non-gold covers (any would do). Should we ask for gold screws and slugs? They sure look different. I am not saying we should be still it is an idea to think about!

Gold screws with a nickel cover sounds interesting. Is gold slugs even possible?

And regarding question b above, I would go with the majority but ideally would want a HOT pearly gates sounding bucker.

I'd prefer a Hot 59 myself. I already have a PG, and have no interest in a hotter version of the same.

I would only be up for that if the engraving was very small, like a little bit of text in the corner. A sticker on the back is perfectly fine for me though.

Voiced like a slightly hotter '59/EVH p'up

Thank You Architect. Why are short and "normal" legs made then? Do "normal" legs not work with certain other type guitars (i.e. make the pup sit too high or something to that effect?)
