Things you could'nt care less about that the vast majority of guitar players luv...

Flying V's & Explorer type guitars (ie Gibson-type one's) that are'nt pointy & have round corner's. I hate round corner's

The only things I can think of on a guitar that I have no need for, that almost everybody else I know uses, are the volume and tone controls.

I could do w/o a tone knob, though I like the slight top-end attenuation/roundness they give you even when fully open as mine always is. The only use I have for a volume knob is turning my guitar down after a song when I'm gigging. I always go straight into the amp (no pedalboard/volume pedal etc) and have, at the most, some foot switchable reverb from the amp &/or delay in the loop...so the guitar volume is the quickest/most convenient way of turning it down between songs.. and that's really the only use I have for it..

Oh, yeah. Same.

I mean, I get the use of volume knobs. The half-rolled volume sound with some slight distortion is somewhat sweet. But a tone pot rolled down just sounds... bad, IMO. But there are a few iconic rolled off tone knobs, I guess.

Honestly, with multichannel amps and availabiliby of different pedals, I think having so rudimentary onboard controls is kind of... archaic.

But each to his own.

The problem for me with tone controls is just that the traditional values are too big for guitar. I like the feel of a passive tone control compared to an active one like you would find on a pedal, but even a 22 nF cuts off way too much of the upper midrange to be worth it to me. 10 nF is useful to me, I may even experiment with lower.

I don't know if it's a "vast majority" or not but it seems like an awful lot of players lately think every new guitar over a certain price has to have have stainless steel frets, and I'm really not bothered with them in the least.

Why not, they're superior?
if it's over a certain price range, it should come with better hardware.

Oh man that's the best word I've learned in a long time!
I've been chuckling about it all morning!

Lol, it just popped in my head and felt right :laugh2:

Pickguards. Firstly, I'm not crazy about how they look (depends on the guitar though) & more importantly they make working on a guitar a lot more of a PIA than something with the control cavity at the back.

Volume controls on electric guitars. I plugged into a 100 watt tube amp. Why would I want to turn it down?

Then again, if I were an actual musician, I might learn how to do those cool pinky swells that Jeff Beck has mastered.

P.S. Even more so . . . volume controls on acoustic/electric guitars. If you want it softer, don't plug into an amp.

I don't fetishize vintage designs, and most modern designs don't appeal to me either. This is why I either have to modify something that is out there, or build my own with parts.
