Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Can you name one single artist or band that should be obligatory listening for us kids?
Miles Davis, particularly Jack Johnson and B1tches Brew.

Can you elaborate on an experience in your life that you think others can learn from as well?
If you intend to go to college, do so straight out of high school. Every year you wait, it becomes exponentially more difficult. The longer you're out of school, the more "real" life kicks in, so you have less time and you forget a bunch of stuff that you'll have to relearn.

I went to college right away, but quit, and went off and on, and now I can only take about 2 classes per quarter, so it's taking forever to finish.

I get what you're saying about 'foamy, but don't sell his playing short. He intentionally plays in that quirky style. In that vein, what is your favorite song by Brandon Arzillo?

I didn't mean to slight anything about him. I guess I did word that incorrectly.... The guy is a fantastic musician, and I didn't want it to sound like all I appreciated was the lead work, or something. My favorite song is "In My Shoes", which I think has one of the best electric guitar tones ever, and some great playing.

Everything he does is super tasteful, and pretty much exactly what should be done.

Those unfamiliar should look here: http://www.brandonarzillo.com/cd.htm

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Wow! Beautiful snake bro! Looks healthy.
Thanks. Before too long, I'm going to try to get a pic of him all stretched out. I'd also like to figure out a way to at least semi-accurately measure him. The breeder told me approx 4', and that's probably pretty close. As you know, it's not exactly easy to get a snake to straighten out by a tape measure, though :)

Oh yeah, he's a total hog, too. I decided to try feeding him mice today, since the smaller bp eats mice, and I'd rather not get stuck with pet rats if I have to keep them for a few weeks and they get too big. I got 5 monster mice (biggest mice I've ever seen) from the pet store, and he ate 3 of them, one after another!

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Haha, he knew those mice weren't rats.

You know, I have to ask you, when the snake finally goes to the big "Medusa's wig" in the sky (years from now of course ;) ) would you consider making something from him, seriously, like a belt or guitar strap? I joke with my wife about the cat that way, like she'll make a nice scarf or gloves, but I'm only kidding. With a snake, I think it would be different. I love my snake, but I think, given the opportunity, I would probably make something from her.

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Nah, probably not. I don't really like snakeskin, except on snakes :)

He did take down a rat last week, but it was a lot more violent than the mice. Seems like the snake has less chance of getting injured by the mice.

Ah, that makes sense. Plus it gives you more entertainment if you feed him smaller rodents :D .

I think mines hibernating or something. I know she's alright, but I don't want to disturb her too often.

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Would you ever feed him an opossum?

If he was a 15+ foot burmese or reticulated python, or a boa constrictor of similar length, and I happened to find somebody with a captive-bred opossum that they would sell me for less than $10 :)

All things considered, at ~ 4 feet, he's pretty small. The rule of thumb is to feed something a little smaller than the thickest part of the snake (or several smaller somethings equivalent to that size), so small or medium rats are the biggest thing he'll ever get to eat.

If this was a question of ethics, I'd have no problem feeding him squirrels and possums and crap like that if it were a possibility. My wife's parents have a few squirrels causing them problems (damaging their house), and I'm sure they'd enjoy watching said squirrels get swallowed by a snake.

Where do you think is the last place in the U.S. you'd want to live?

If you had to describe yourself as a dog, what dog breed would you say best represents you?

Without looking at a dictionary, do you know what a 'nepotistic boondoggle' is? (I sure know I didn't when I read it in one of my assignments earlier this week :laugh2:)

Smoked provolone, no contest.

Typing :D Seriously, probably Jazz Class, but not for the obvious, "coz I got to play music" reason. The teacher could play anything beside stringed instruments, and held them (esp. guitarists) in low regard.

Butting heads with that guy and hearing him praise horn players for some seriously mediocre crap and dismiss what I did with "Oh, anybody could do that" if I used an overdrive or wah, taught me that other people's opinions only matter if you let them.

Least valuable subject learned in school? Why?
I seriously don't know, as I think you need to be a pretty big screwup to not get at least a little something out of a class.

Anywhere confederate flags are proudly displayed.

Something really laid back, but definitely has a limit to the crap it will take... German Shepherd, maybe?

LOL, not a clue.... enlighten us :)

I told him to ask.
Ok, you can either share custody of the SG with Adam, or fight Cream for the 175. Now before you choose, realize the 175 is from the early 50's, has a single P90 in the neck, and was scavenged from some guy's garage 40-ish years ago.

Favourite Character to be crushed by a friggin moon?

Basically it is an activity appearing to have value but is really pointless (boondoggle) that is supported/made possible by the favoritism of family or friends (nepotism). :D

I don't really know why I thought of that question :laugh2:

Got any examples?

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Got any examples?

Of it's use?

Hahahaha.

Yes, though it would probably get this thread shut down. I'll just say this, the reading I discovered this display of vernacular masturbation in is for my class titled "The 1st Amendment and the Press". As you can probably guess (given the title of the class and the fact I go to school in Berkeley) it was used vis-a-vis a very politically charged court case. Using 'nepotistic boondoggle' in the context I read it in, and in most examples I can think of, would surely stir up some trouble :D

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Well, I'm officially closing up this portion of the Well. It was a lot of fun, and thanks to everybody who stopped in to ask a question. I haven't gotten to spend that much time discussing Star Wars in forever :D

BB, I still haven't decided who the 4 most interesting members are. I'll PM you when I do :)

Re: Well Episode XVI: Return of the Jedi + X

Crap, sorry.....

My favorite note depends on the particular guitar. They all have a spot on the neck that feeds back the easiest. Whichever note produces controlled feedback at a reasonable volume is my favorite :)

Seems like it usually ends up being somewhere between the 4th and 8th frets on the lowest 3 strings.
