Who rocks hard with a semi-hollow? You? Famous Rock Stars?

I've got to sell two of my three Schecters. I'm definitely selling the C-1 EX baritone, and either my C-1 Elite or my C-1 E/A semi-hollow. I love both guitars, but maybe the semi-hllow a bit more. So I'm just about ready to sell the Elite, but...

My problem is that I feel a little funny rocking out with a semi-hollow. It sounds cool, feels great... but I'm worried that it looks lame. Do you any of you, or any Big Rock Stars, play hard rock with a semi-hollow? I'm talking about emo/indie/melodic hard rock, bands like Anberlin, Mae, Jimmy Eat World, The Starting Line. Can it be done, without looking totally out of place or silly? Those guys usually play SGs, Pauls, Explorers, or esoteric pawn shop stuff with indie cred.

Now of course if you're secure enough, you can play anything and make it look cool. And if you're a killer player you can play anything and no one will smirk at you. But clearly I am neither secure enough nor a killer player. I'm currently "between bands" and auditioning/jamming with people, looking for a band to join. The right "look" can be important.

So all psychological anaylsis aside, whaddaya think?

The Cult's Billy Duffy comes to mind. He's pretty cool. And I bet CC DeVille or George Lynch never laughed at him.

TED NUGENT!!!!!!! Always had that Gibson Byrdland
ZZ Top has used Bolin semi hollow bodied guitars.
Izzy Stradlin in Guns and Roses used a Gibson ES-175 live.
Blink 182 used something like a Gibson ES-355.
The new Axle Rose Guns and Roses lineup used a few semi hollows.
Keith Richards plays an ES 335 live



I'm looking for a deal on a semi-hollow, as I'm 6'1, big build, and the size of a semi hollow is better proportioned to me.

Alex Lifeson, you may have heard of him, recorded most of the first three or four Rush albums using ES-335s and ES-355s.

Duane Denison (currently of Tomahawk) plays a 335 among other things. He rocks pretty hard.

95% of people who will hear and see you will have no idea what guitar you are playing anyway. Who cares? It's only geeks like us that really care about that stuff.

You guys rock - I think I can handle the semi-hollow now. In my emotional crisis, I couldn't think straight. Alex Lifeson is one of my absolute all-time favorite players. And if 2112 isn't hard, I don't know what is.

EDIT: now I know why I'm freaking out about this! I'm turning 30 tomorrow! I'm having some kind of Third-Decade Life Crisis! Maybe I should buy some more gear.
