Doing the "indie rock" thing is cool. Back in the day I wanted guitars that were different from what everyone else was playing. I wanted a Telecaster, but I didn't want one like everyone else had- I ended up with a 72-ish Tele Custom. I'd never seen one like it, and (other than Keef) didn't see another one until Tom Chochrane's "Life is a Highway" video. I wanted a LP, but didn't want one like everyone elses, I got a really cool lookin' Deluxe with the stupid mini-humbuckers.wildstar said:My problem is that I feel a little funny rocking out with a semi-hollow. It sounds cool, feels great... but I'm worried that it looks lame.
Can it be done, without looking totally out of place or silly? Those guys usually play SGs, Pauls, Explorers, or esoteric pawn shop stuff with indie cred.
Now of course if you're secure enough, you can play anything and make it look cool.

My ESP Mirage Custom is a peach/pinkish type color and I rock that thing out on metal.

Exactly. I know the pointy 80's guitars are coming back in metal and some other circles, I need to see all these screamo bands playing pink Explorers and neon green V's!The Golden Boy said:In as much as a black hoodie, horn rimmed glasses, backpack, SGs and dyed black hair is a uniform- do it your way. As cool as Ian MacKaye is, it's more cool to be yourself than a second rate interpretetation of Ian MacKaye.

Bludave said:I soooo love my 335. Its my fav. HB guitar, but I am not a hard player I tend to play rock and blues. These guitars can be problematic when you play with high volume and high gain they have a tendency to squeal due to air in the chambers. I have stuffed mine with foam, but wax dipping the PUPS usually will eliminate most squealing issues.
I was afraid of the same issues, I stand about 3 feet in front of my Marshall, and I've never had a problem with squeel and feedback. I was surprised!Bludave said:I soooo love my 335. Its my fav.
