90% of my collection i have bought from being in the right place at the right time!!!! I have bought many MIM strats for $200-$300 Canadian and a fernandes super strat from the 80's for $100 Canadian...

But for better stuff i got a real 65 Fender Deluxe amp for $350 Canadian.. and a 5150 stack for $650 Canadian.... A Peavey Classic 50 head for $200.... and Classic 30 combo with matching tweed Ext cab for $500 Canadian....

But i think a great deal i got was my 1989 Roland GP8 analog rack multiFX unit for $20 at a Garage sale.... Computer controlled Boss units in one box!!!! I use it in front of my Peavey Classic series amps clean channels and man is it fun!!!!

I missed out on a 50's Fender Champ for $2 at a garage sale..... i could of died right there!!! i missed it!!!!

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

couple of years ago i got my 1996 standard sg for $630 shipped on ebay.......it has definately seen battle but it's set up very well now and i am very happy with it.

a month ago i got a 1995 mim strat for $160....also looks a bit like it has deflected it's share of sharp and/or blunt objects. aside from a small nick out of the 8th fret right between the d and g strings(the g string catches if you bend towards the bass strings, should be easily fixed) this will make an amazing guitar for a friend to learn on.

jumping back again to like a couple years ago i got a huge lot of like 20-30 planet waves cables of various lengths for like $40 shipped. hooked up all of my friends with cables and i still got plenty left.

now to threadjack i will say i should have waited instead of getting my pod xtl new($400), as i've seen plenty in the $250 range:smack:

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

About 8 or 9 years ago I bought a black Gibson Les Paul Standard for $350 used. It was in near mint condition and came with the original brown and pink Gibson case. The only thing was, the guy put a Duncan in the bridge and took the covers off of both pickups. I don't ever see myself getting a deal like that anymore.

It's the black guitar in this pic. I don't have any shots by itself handy.

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

I got my MIA Peavey Predator for $60. It needed a little work, but It's a great guitar now.

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

I'm a lucky s.o.b getting these deals:

Gibson SG special form 1974. I walked into the local guitar store for some strings when this baby caught my eyes. I was like daaamnnn an old and gigged Gibson SG! So I played it a little, checked it out and got a great deal on it: 900 Euro's! It looked really cool and the neck is fat and narrow, incredible feel.
Also the wood in this guitar is much better than any other guitar I've played. The Gibson Logo is a real inlay instead of a decal and the fretboard is inlayed with small blocks instead of dot's. It's reliced but I'm not shure if it is from normal play wear or done on purpose. It looks like natural playing damage to me.

I got this baby for 1500 Euro's. I believe it's worth at least double ;)
The guy who sold it to me said he liked his Soldano better and he needed some cash to go on a holiday. The head had spiderwebs on the inside, so it probably just stood on his attic for some time.
Brought it to a tech who checked it out and said it was in near mint condition! It's a '94 model with all the options! Tone monster!

I bought THIS guitar brand new from GC on clearance for $1415.00 and sold it two months later to a dude in Canada for $1860.00. TRUE STORY!!!

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

I received this MIM Strat from a friend one day, completely out of the blue:

I've since installed locking tuners and strap locks, had the neck refretted with medium jumbos (thanks, theodie!), and replaced the stock pups with Kinman Woodstock noiseless.

My friend's one condition was that I name the guitar Loki. Meet Loki. :)

Bought my 73' Strat for $150 three years ago.

what the??!:eek::eek:
oh my god some f these other deals are unreal. I hope you guys had the decency not to offer less. I really despise a cat who finds a great deal then offres the dude who doesnt really know or needs the money even less. thats about as low as you can get and ive heard some mofos bragging about that. But if its a pawn shop or somethingt hell yea!

I payed AUD$450 (US$400) for my '68 Strat. Mind you, that was 1981. It's worth more than that now.

Cheers.........................wahwah

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

Hmmmm...I put real effort into finding good deals, but I guess my best one is my '89 Strat Plus Deluxe for $100. :D

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

When I was a kid they once let me sniff a napkin from an older woman. It only cost me 10 cents. It changed my world forever man.

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

Guess it was early last year when I walked into a GC and saw a used, but very playable Jackson (USA) RR1 (in metallic blue) hangin' on the wall and I picked it up for a mere $629 (something like that). Can't post pics cuz I sold it (though maybe I took pics of it before I sold it, dunno). That was a (pinch me) dream score at that time. Me and the guitar just didn't gel. :(

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

I've had some decent guitar deals, but none that are outrageous. One nearly outrageous amp purchase when I bought a Peavey XXX head and matching cab for $650 or so. Sold the whole works to someone on ebay and lost $50 on the whole shebang. Got to try a neat amp though.

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

My 1972 Jap Tele caster Custom with the 'mystery' Year. Was 'made' aparantly in the 80's, but the Jap Fender guys didnt make 72 customs again until the 90's.

Re: Best Deal you've ever gotten-posted for bragging

Best guitar related deals?

1962 or '63 Blonde & brown Fender Bandmaster stuffed with old tubes... RCA's & whatnot, sadly... not all in great shape but who cares? $125 in the parking lot of Scam Cash in Paramus in late 2004.

Years ago I bought a JCM900 4x12 slant cab for $200 out the door from the local music store. Not sure how that happened... it was tagged at $200 & they knocked the tax off since I paid cash! Sold it in 2004 when I closed the studio for double that.

I've scored some other deals... Got the Rivera 2x12 for $225 or $250... somewhere in there. A '70s Ross Phaser for $25... Roland Dimension C or D stompbox... MIJ, the pink one, for about the same...

All pretty recently too.
