Anyone ever try Greenbacks mixed with Vintage 30's?
Speakers are as important as the amp or the guitar you are playing.like having a new amp huh
prob go with 2 greens for now, something about the g12's that erk me! thought it was marshall thing also
I've got all Greenbacks in both of my 1960a cabinets......I'm happy! Very smooth with nice breakup.
I did try the GB's with 75's and it sounded really nice too but when I had a chance to play a quad of Greenies I was sold!
im not sure what green to go with g12 h or M , I like VH to 80's metal
thanks for the inputWhen you push the G12m with a lot of power (think 100watt Dual) the low end can start to fart out. As far as I recall, G12Hs are louder, tighter, and have more thump. Hendrix used a 4 x 12 with these guys. If you are doing VH to 80s metal a G12H / V30 combo might be better. It will give you the warmth and crunch for lower gain settings but will retain clarity better when the gain is turned up.
Also, look into the Classic Lead 80. These speakers are the quintessential 80s metal tone with their huge mid scoop. My advice, go to the Celestion site and listen through their demos. They are interesting, to say the least, even if they are unscientific.
How do yours sound with your Bogner Ecstasy?

I do worry about the power handling though. I've always used my amp in the 50 watt mode so I should be OK even though I tend to play stupidly loud!
Seriously though, I went through a speaker phase. I bought Vintage 30's, G12H-30's, Greenbacks, G12T-75's and CL-80's and tried every possible combination. I liked many but ended up most happy with the quads of Greenbacks!
