It's raining NGD's...but these are special..

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Cuz my son's bought them for me... :bigthumb:

Both my boys are into metal. (elder one's hair is halfway down his back) ...not crazy into it like me but more casually.

He likes modern metal, "progressive" stuff & djent... and the two of us argue about our completely different tastes all the time :lmao:

...while my younger is more into trad metal like me & is especially crazy about King Diamond :bigthumb:

The elder guy (now 20) who's away at university in the UK is home for the holidays so I was showing them both the last couple guitars I bought (FGN & Charvel). They asked where I got them from & yesterday I was presented w/ this one by my younger son...(probably actually bought by my older one though :p..cuz he has a couple of part-time jobs in the UK while my younger pretty much just plays video games in his free time :p)

It's an alder HSS Strat w/ a rosewood fretboard & FGN's own proprietary pup's. I actually mentioned it to my boys when I showed them my Koa FGN saying I'd seen another I like but honestly did'nt for the life of me expect them to get it for me..cuz they've never done anything remotely like this in the past. (Lol, I must be doing somethng right ;p) ..so yeah I was genuinely surprised & also pretty deeply touched to say the least.

It's another awesome guitar! Looks fantastic & plays/sounds as good as it looks :bigthumb:

Here it is plugged into my JVM410 (neck single coil)

And on top of that my elder dude says he too got me one online "that I'd like" & it's on the way (upcoming NGD!)...so I probably have a hideous djent guitar to look forward to in the near future (just j/k......it's the thought that counts)... :laugh2:

What can I say...I have awesome kids :bigthumb:

You've obviously done something right as a father!

Haha..yeah apparently, beats me what that might be though :lmao:

j/k ...we've always been close, especially since their mum died a few years ago. I'm just happy my elder one made it back home for a bit . He's been gone over a year & actually was'nt sure if he'd be able to until this coming April-May. But then he finally got here on Christmas day....

That's awesome! Also, I just learned what djent is...thank you!

No problem....now you know you were'nt missing much :laugh2:

I have to say, that is a pretty cool looking guitar.

That it is. They said they they had a bit of a time locating it, cuz I'd told them the one I liked had a 'Black Limba' top & the guy's at the store apparenttly did'nt realize that this model (Dark Mocha burst) was Black Limba :p

Haha. "Pops, I got some good news and some bad news" huh? Nah, I'm lucky they're both good boys. Nothing like I was like at their age :p

Plus I drive a beat up 25 year old Suzuki hatchbback. ('guitar's not car's' kinda guy) Believe me It's 100% safe from them :lmao:

Pretty sure this is the exact same guitar (as in, the very same piece) my son got me. The top looks identical & the demo is from the same music store that I first saw it in a few weeks ago. It's also def not the same one I played when I was there.

But man...what an awesome sounding instrument!

'course this dude is a way better player then I am :p

^^

Differences:

Superstrat vs. Fat Strat

Koa vs. Black Limba top

Ash vs. Alder bodies..

Jumbo vs. medium jumbo frets

Duncan's vs. (awesome) in-house pup's

And....my elder son's mystery axe arrived today...

Gotta say ..I was pleasantly surprised by the aesthetics :laugh2:

It had a headstock...

...and a Floyd. :bigthumb:

Probably not something I'd have reached out for myself, being more 'modern' looking than I go for usually...but then can't say I was'nt expecting that. In fact, he did a perfect job picking it out cuz it has elements to it that we both can dig :bigthumb:

He knows I'm partial to the brand as well...

All in all, I'm ****ing thrilled. Don't know what got into the two of them....but w/e it was, I'm not complaining :p

These are officially my two fave guitars ever :bigthumb:

very cool that they got you some new toys to play with! even if they arent something youd choose for yourself, its good to branch out a bit sometimes

Eh, a free guitar is a free guitar (or in this case...two :bigthumb:). Not one to look a gift-horse in the mouth :lmao:

Here's hoping next year it's amp's... :lmao:

J/k, I'm not a sentimental guy but this totally made my day(s) :)

Pics of the new one...it's actually a pretty cool looking axe in a sort of dark, sinister uhm ...menacing way :D

The Nazgul is a great pup for shred as well, again... kinda modern sounding but undoubtedly awesome ..can't wait to check out the Sentient... ::headbang:

Oh yeah,I probably have about 10 Cort's. Killer guitar's...not just for the price :bigthumb:

No those are a a pair of cheap (but well regarded) locally made/Indian powered speakers (w/ a 10" side-firing woofer) that I got for the "antique" Victrola player which looks super cool but sounds like shit. They have a great warm, if slightly laid back, room-filling sound, especially at low volumes. Great for late night/early morning listening which is what I use them for..

The speakers for my main stereo (across the room) are my 25 yr old Mordaunt Short MS908's..which are normal/passive hi-fi speakers but also have big 12" side-firing woofer's. Guess I like side-firing woofers :lmao:
