Seriously. Thank You Seymour, MJ, Evan and everyone else involved for giving us this opportunity! :) And especially Scott for making the proposal and "running the show" for us on our end!

It was Theodie's idea. Instead of complaining, find a solution.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Amen!

I would like very much to hear MJ's opinion on the matter (that's where the true expertise lies). I believe we are all in agreement that we are looking for a slightly hotter '59/EVH...Maybe our specs are dead on...maybe not, but we'd certainly like the expert's input. :)

What does it take to create the Uber (slightly hotter) '59, yet maintain that PAF voicing?

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I like Doc B's specs. I too would want a hotter PG or Antiquity.

I would like mismatched coils

Full strength Alnico II or Dun-Aged alnico V.

4 conductor wiring

Short legs

As far as resistance and wire type, I'll leave that to MJ and Seymour.

Cosmetic wise, I'd like a nickle cover with reverse zebra, zebra, or black underneath with the standard SD logo on the screw coil.

This thread needs a poll.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I'm not interested (sorry guys...) but THIS thread proves just how much of an AMAZING, customer friendly, listening company Seymour Duncan is. Thank you to all the admins for making this possible, to the SD company for LISTENING to its customers and working FOR them and not the shareholders/owners, and to everyone who is going to make this thread going further, as well of course to everyone who had the idea and made it go forward. I just had to say it.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

just IMO, but I think the gist is to agree on a voicing - "hot, smooth '59", "hot PG", etc., then let the pros figure out how to get there ...

rather than trying to describe the specs first

but I'm more intuitive than technical

Thank You Architect. Why are short and "normal" legs made then? Do "normal" legs not work with certain other type guitars (i.e. make the pup sit too high or something to that effect?)

Normal or Gibson style legs are too deep to fit in a strat. Short legs will enable it to fit almost any guitar.

This sounds like something I could use.

The point of this is to own the mythical 10K pup right?

We've all been talking about it for weeks, right?

I think this pup needs to be 10K.

I personally think all the technical work has been done a while back.

Stay with me, minds open...

...

...

...

an A5 bridge S Deco wound to 10K!

Think about it... all research has been done. It's a proven winner. We all can call it a 10K PAF and we'll be right.

we could ask mj and seymour what they thought about scatterwinding and unequal coils...
....

now.....

Think about this before you post. Please...

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

actually, I think a lot of others really narrowed down the specs, but after reading BachTo Rock's post in the hybrid thread, I thought I'd offer something for the sake of argument .... his point being that there is a sweet spot for wire sizes ... so I thought it might be easier to agree on a pickup voice, and let MJ figure out the best approach

just an idea .. I'm sure we'll sort it out.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I agree that it should be 10K. A bunch of people here have been whining for 10k, that's what they should get.

I'm in, and here's what I would like to see:

10K, however that has to be acheived magnet wire-wise
A5 mag (haven't heard a A2 I've truely liked)
double black, no Logo, so it can be used in either neck or bridge without looking funny...
base with short legs and rounded corners (like the TB-X pups)
4 conductor

That would do it for me! none of them are deal-breakers...

Let's do this!

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

- Soundwise Hot PG, Hot Antiquity kind of (I don't know alot about mags, wire use etc. so I'll leave that to you guys who know more about it)

- I agree with Scott_F on the 10K though, since that's what people have requested and talked about for a week now ;)

- 4 conductor etc. doesn't matter to me.

- Normal, Gibson or Short legs, don't know the difference? But if it's true as someone wrote that gibson legs won't fit a strat and that short legs will fit a LP style guitar, then that's the way to go right?

- Nickel cover (engraving would be real cool and make it even more custom and one of a kind)

- My biggest wish (now when it's christmas and all ;) ..) would be a engraved antiquity'ed nickel cover, but I might be the only one who wish that!

- Zebra or reverse zebra to me :) And with the Seymour Duncan logo on, for those who don't wan't to use the cover.

Just because.

This'll be a great conversation piece.

I don't wanna hear no stinkin' whinin' later, either.

** Codename: "K10" ?? ** "Peacemaker" ??

this probably doesn't need to be repeated, but this is probably the WORST time of year to put in a CS order, so we're going to have to be patient.

You're prob right about that, but it's gonna take quite some time to get everyone to agree on the specs I think, so some extra time won't hurt:)

Damn it, this is the Peacemaker pup, should be named that! It's gonna be a classic ;) :laugh2:

This is real customer service guys! Many thanks to a really GREAT Pickup maker, Seymour Duncan.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I'm kind of torn with the spacing issue now, as I just figured out that I'd need trembucker spacing and it looks like I'm the only one. Don't newer Gibsons and all fenders and all floyd rose equipped guitars need a tremspaced pup? Where do you all guys put your "standard" ones?

I normally wouldn't mind, but I really don't own a guitar with "standard" spacing at the bridge.

I too think that the exact specs should really be left to the professionals. Just get a good paf with an extra kick in the rear without sacrificing dynamics and clarity.

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I'd be up for this. I already use 59's, 11k hybrids and Demons, so something along the lines of a hotter, warmer 59 would be just the ticket. 4 conductor, zebra with or without cover will do. This needs to come with a limited edition official SD 10k militia t-shirt!!!:chairfall

Great!

From what I have been reading I think the specs are sort of determined already.

Wax Potted

A5

10K PAF (whether or not it is S-Deco I don't care because honestly speaking I never heard an S-Deco :smack: )

Short legs

4 c-wires

Color? Question: Do they all have to be the same color?

59 parts and all (wooden spacers, paper tape whatever, nobody is opposing to these no?)

The rest is MJ's magic! She would do the final voicing of the pickup and I am sure that she will do a good job. If asked I'd go for a 10K 59 or PG or EVH! ;) But honestly speaking I would not want it to be as top heavy as a Screaming Demon! That's the only concern of mine.

So what do you guys say?

B

Re: The SD Forum Special 10.0K Bridge Bucker Offer

I've pretty much stayed out of this lwhole issue but I will say this...Im in on buying one of these "peacemakers" depending on what the specs end up being.

So, what are the specs shaping up to be?

The longer legs are accurate repro's of what the original vintage pieces had. Thats cool and all but they don't fit in the bridge position of my PRS or any position of my strats.
